France Cycling Tour Itineraries

Our tour itineraries feature the finest destinations in France including Provence, the Loire Valley with its sumptuous castles, the Dordogne River Valley, and the Mediterranean coast. All itineraries feature off-the-beaten-path routes, vineyards, wine tasting, gastronomic delights, outstanding scenery, and amazing sights such as Roman monuments, medieval and Renaissance castles, and prehistoric cave paintings and cliff dwellings. And for fans of the world-famous Tour de France race, our Provence of the Tour de France itinerary offers the challenge of one of the race's most famous stages: an optional climb up Mount Ventoux. See Tour Itineraries for an overview of each of our France cycling tour itineraries.

France Bicycle Touring Formats

Diverse Directions offers cyclists a choice of two touring formats: Circuit Tours and Hub & Spoke Tours. Tour itineraries of the Circuit Tour format are for those who wish to cycle to a different overnight destination daily (with the exception of rest days.) For travelers preferring to limit the frequency with which they change hotels, our Hub & Spoke tours include one or two base locations (hubs) from which you make multiple roundtrip cycling excursions (spokes.)

New France Cycling Tour Itineraries for 2012

We've added 8 new cycling itineraries for 2012. In the Loire Valley, we're happy to introduce 4 Circuit Tours and one Hub & Spoke Tour. Each of these tours features easy cycling and the opportunity to visit many of the Loire Valley's most prominent castles. These tours include our Loire Valley Châteaux: 5-Day Circuit Tour, our Eastern Loire Valley Châteaux: 3-Day Circuit Tour, our Western Loire Valley Chateaux: 3-Day Circuit Tour, our  Western Loire Valley Chateaux: 2-Day Circuit Tour, and our Loire Valley Châteaux Hub & Spoke Tour.

We've also added 2 new Circuit Tour itineraries to our Southwestern France options: the 7-day Pilgrims, Castles & Cave Art Tour and the 6-day Black Périgord Circuit Tour. These exceptional itineraries feature some of the best cycling and sights of the Dordogne and Lot regions, and provide an easier cycling alternative for those wishing to do a tour in this part of France.

Finally, we've add 1 new Circuit Tour itinerary to our Provence options: the 6-day Vineyards & Van Gogh Circuit Tour. This itinerary provides an easier option than the Provence of the Tour de France Tour for those who wish to cycle in the Luberon without sacrificing any of the beauty. Overnight destinations on the Vineyards & Van Gogh Circuit Tour include Avignon, Gordes, Saint-Rémy, and Arles.
