France is a modern, dynamic country that proudly preserves its culture, history,
and traditions. Wherever you venture in France, you will find exquisitely preserved medieval villages and beautiful landscapes, as well as in
the continued French commitment to the art of enjoying life. The French joie de vivre means first and foremost a respect for the life-giving
land that yields a bounty of raw materials for fine food and wine. This is one of the reasons why it is difficult to find an unsatisfying meal in France.
Every region of France has a beauty all its own, but regardless of the region, you will see evidence of this commitment to preserving a rich past and
incorporating celebrated traditions into the modern culture.

Provence
Located in southeastern France along the Mediterranean coast, Provence has the dazzling light that inspired
the Impressionists, numerous remnants of its Roman past, acres of vineyards and olive groves, villages constructed of local stone that cause them to meld
beautifully and effortlessly into their settings, and a vast variety of landscapes. During the course of a few day's cycling you will cross semi-desert scrubland,
lush green valleys, towering mountains and deep gorges, In short, the scenery is awesome, and often dramatic.
The terrain in Provence is quite hilly in general, though long stretches of flat or gently rolling hills provide regular relief for the cyclist.
Access to Provence is made very easy by France's superb high-speed rail network. Trains leave both Paris and
Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport for Avignon very frequently, and make the journey in 3 to 4 hours.
